Volunteer of the Year Award
Each year the Trustees choose a volunteer who has shown dedication and loyalty to the charity, to receive this award. This year Sara and John Way were chosen to jointly receive the award. Sara walked into the Wimborne Road Clinic about ten years ago and said that she couldn't do much, but did have a sewing machine! She left with arms full of duvets and since that day has made hundreds of doggy duvets. She has also donated quilts for the auctions and has her own craft stall at the dog show. One Christmas she was persuaded to foster a pair of dogs, which she went on to adopt and this has happened twice more as her oldies have passed on. Sara also volunteers in the office and is willing to step in at the last minute to help out. John was responsible for allocation of our collecting tins, for many years. He prepared the bags for individual collections, helped with the count and kept meticulous records. A section of the garage was taken up with shelving full of new tins, tins for relabelling and various other bits and pieces. John was also responsible for making and refurbishing the A-boards that are seen at collections and outside our shops. This award is well deserved - thank you both for all your hard work.
