Wilton Funeral Services collection during July 2018

COMMUNITY ACTIVITY REPORT – JULY 2018 CHARITY EVENT

BRANCH 1364  – WILTON FUNERAL SERVICES

ARRANGED / CO-ORDINATED AND COMPLETED BY  – JULIE JENNINGS Dip.F.D., Wilton Funeral Services

CHARITY CHOSEN – Waggy Tails Rescue, Bournemouth  – weblink: https://waggytails.org.uk/

During June, I liaised with Ginny Roberts  from Waggy Tails Recue to ascertain best items to be collected and to get some literature and a banner in branch – duly promptly delivered by them

I created a summer window display and added doggy items, posters and info.  Requested donations of blankets, towels, leads, collars, treats, and wet food pouches.  Created a bespoke A Board display.  Purchased dog bowl for pavement.

I secured several blankets and towels from my and my family homes.   I donated personal leads, harnesses and collars and £20 worth of treats.

As advertised – I said we would collect donations from local homes and collected items from 2 homes which want anonimity – and included a £5.00 cash and a £50.00 cheque for the charity as well as several blankets.

I secured £15 voucher from Pets at Home in Christchurch which I spent on goodies in store

The vets opposite us in Tuckton donated a huge bag of dry food:

Riverside veterinary clinic: 161 Tuckton Road, Bournemouth BH6 3LA

FPL kindly donated £50 petty cash for me to buy goodies – authorised by Claire Knights – and I spent the full amount in Tesco’s on wet food and treats (as we did not have much of these).

I placed  an “ad” on SoBo Village facebook page and thankfully the local community responded with few items but bulk seemed to come in from folk of Tuckton having seen the window display and A Board!

From the photos included with this report you will see we had a good hoard and our van was overflowing with the collection and we took some fab shots at our premises before leaving and on site at Waggy Tails.

Waggy Tails were delighted to receive the collection and most of the staff were there to greet us on our our appointmented arrival on Tuesday 7th August 2018.   Said it was the first time they had received such a collection from a Funeral Directors!!   They really appreciated the items and made us so welcome and they let some of the dogs star in our little photo shoot.

Staff: Sue Carr – Sanctuary Manager
