Sally Long is running the London Marathon

I’m Sally Long, I live in the New Forest with my two dogs Hettie and Dave and my husband Brian. In my normal life I’m the credit controller for our family business, in this role my colleagues refer to me as being like a terrier with a mouthful of trouser leg. All things in my life seem to have some kind of dog connection which is why I have chosen Waggy Tails as the beneficiary of my sponsored challenges for 2026; The London Marathon in April and The Everest Marathon in May. I entered for the London Marathon without any real expectation of actually getting a place, however surprise, surprise I was one of the lucky ones.

Dogs apart, my other passion is mountain trekking, I’ve trekked my way up Machu Picchu in Peru, Mount Toubkal in Morocco and Mount Kinabalu in Borneo and I’m really looking forward to trekking to Everest Base Camp with the added complication of running a marathon descending 1900 metres to Namche Bazaar.

I should add, we have had three wonderful dogs from Waggy Tails and am proud to be supporting this fantastic charity that does so much work to find loving homes for unwanted and abandoned dogs. I set out to raise a modest target which is well on the way to be exceeded, if you would like to donate please go to my Just Giving page, whatever is raised* will go directly to WaggyTails.
