Devon
Devon, a Pomeranian, was only 8 months old when she came to us in 2023. She had been living in a very busy family home with 3 children and she was not happy. It became too much of an overwhelming environment for her and she was showing behaviour problems. When she first arrived with us, Devon was scared – she wasn’t sure of people and took her time to get used to us here. She really did not like men. Once she did feel comfortable with somebody, she had a lively little personality and would be very affectionate. This was limited to only those people she trusted. Devon also wasn’t too sure of the other dogs, but gradually made friends with some smaller ones.
Devon went into a foster home with one of our lovely and experienced volunteers, who also has a little Shih Tzu called Charlie. They got on so well, that Devon decided she’d like to live there permanently and Charlie finally agreed!
Devon is now enjoying life with Charlie and their doggy Mum whom she loves wholeheartedly. She still prefers to stay away from most people and other dogs and we believe that Devon will always have a fear of men. On the plus side, the men in the household are now allowed to be in the same room without fuss although visitors will always have to be sensitive to her fears. A safe, loving and understanding final home for this little dog who clearly did not get the best start in life.
