Beware – animal charity SCAM

SCAM ALERT

Another small animal rescue has had its name put to a fund raising event where the organiser was selling pitches/stalls? and asking for money up front.

This was nothing to do with the rescue so they have put the word out to warn others.

If you see anything like this please do check directly with us before you send any money.

We would never arrange an event in this way.

Alabama Rot

Looks like Alabama Rot is raising it”s ugly head again. All dog owners need to be alert to the threat it causes to your lovely dog.   Last night on South Today was a classic case. I am a bit OTT with my two dogs. After their walk they have the paws washed with the outside tap.   Then I have a bowl with a Hibiscrub/water mix and clean the feet, then rinse. Two dogs ,5 minutes. Job done. The source of this killer disease is not yet known but the theory is damp, dirty water/mud etc. all prevalent in this area ,especially in the forest, and more wet weather forecast.   Please, please look after your dog and watch out for the signs of sores, cuts, etc. If in doubt call your vet.  Better safe than the alternative.…read more

Pets at Home Foundation Grant

Wow!

Waggy Tails have been lucky enough to secure a grant from the Pets at Home Foundation to the value of £40350.  This was £37000 to fund an electric van to replace our existing Animal Ambulance and £3000 to help towards vet bills.

There was also £350 towards the sign writing on the van.  It has been fully lined and has rubber matting on the floor to stop the cages from slipping and there are lots of anchor points for extra security.

We are so grateful for their help in enabling us to buy a new vehicle and hope that our solar panels will fund charging the van through the summer months and more.

Exercise Enclosures – Ashley Heath

We are now able to offer two large outside enclosures which are side by side at Ashley Heath, for dog training and off lead exercise for the use of Waggy Tails Dogs.

One also contains agility equipment.

The enclosures can be booked for one hour sessions in advance.

There are a number of dog trainers who will be using these facilities as well, so if you need professional help we can give you their details.

For dogs that are not good with other dogs, we also have a one way route for walking dogs on the lead – walk time about 30/40 minutes, depending on the weather at the same venue.

Access during daylight hours – £30 a month for a pass.

Comfort facilities are also available.

For further information and viewing times/bookings please email/call the office.

Volunteers needed for DIY / Grounds Maintenance

Do you have a few hours to spare?

We are looking for volunteers to help with DIY and grounds maintenance at our new property near Ashley Heath.

There’s lots to do around the buildings and also in the grounds.

We have a large wildlife pond that has become very overgrown, so if you know how to care for it your expertise would be very welcome, also woodland and lots of boundary trees that needs general maintenance.

If you would like more information please email us on admin@waggytails.org.uk
